Homelessness is on the rise in Columbus and Franklin County. Central Ohio benefits from an innovative crisis response system that has long been viewed as a national model. HandsOn operates the coordinated point of entry for our community’s system, the Homeless Hotline, so that individuals and families facing a housing crises have access to shelter and other housing resources.
The Homeless Hotline provides live intake specialists who support families and individuals resolve their housing crises 24 hours a day. HandsOn’s coordinated entry process helps Central Ohio ensure people who need assistance the most can receive it in a timely manner, as well as provides valuable information to the community about service needs and gaps.
Families with young children are particularly vulnerable to becoming homeless, and experiencing long-term or repeated stays in shelter. Our enhanced support for families provides ongoing community resource navigation and linkages to prevent homelessness from occurring. By connecting families with our network of community resources, services, and limited financial aid HandsOn supports a community-wide commitment to more stable, sustainable housing for these families.
