Foster Grandparent Program
The Foster Grandparent Program provides an opportunity for persons 55 and older to provide one-on-one mentoring, tutoring and emotional support to children with special and exceptional needs. FGP has more than 40 locations for foster grandparents to improve the lives of children in need including Head Start centers, preschools, elementary schools, county boards of MRDD and private institutions.
As a foster grandparent, you'll receive:
- Orientation and monthly training
- Modest, tax-free stipend
- Reimbursement for transportation
- Annual physical exam
- Meals (during service)
Give Help. You can be a foster grandparent if you have a genuine love for children, are 55 years or older, can volunteer at least 15-20 hours per week and meet certain income eligibility guidelines.
